What was even more alarm­ing was that they orig­i­nated from many widely dis­persed loca­tions through­out the coun­try. It was not only restricted to Monsanto’s GM maize but to all brands of GM maize.

Mon­santo cre­ates “Stew­ard­ship of its Tech­nol­ogy” pro­grams and the US con­sumers have to pay the price for Mon­santo police to enforce Mon­santo Law. US farm­ers who get caught twice for not com­ply­ing with Monsanto’s refuge sys­tem will be black­listed and never allowed to plant Mon­santo seeds again. Can you think of any­thing worse, because accord­ing to what they told Judge White,there are no oth­ers seeds available.

Quite frankly I think Mon­santo has become a forked tongue. sorry sight.

There are only two com­mer­cially grown genet­i­cally mod­i­fied food crops. Maize(corn) and Soya. Of these there are those that con­tain the Bt gene which con­stantly exudes a crys­tal toxin which kills insect lar­vae and a gene which makes the plan resis­tant to the com­pa­nies brand of her­bi­cide.
Plenty of drought-​and flood-​resistant tra­di­tional crop vari­eties already exist and sim­ply need to be brought back to mar­ket, sup­port­ers of tra­di­tional farm­ing say.

The IAASDT was spon­sored by the FAO. It was adopted on Johan­nes­burg in 2009. The only sig­nif­i­cant dis­sent­ing par­ties to the report were Mon­santo and the United States who walked out when pri­or­ity was not given to their hand­ful of indus­try experts who believed that large scale indus­trial plant­ing of GM crops was the answer to cli­mate change.. It is clear that these same forces have now hijacked the FAO and added insult to injury by hold­ing their con­fer­ence in Mexico

Genetic engi­neer­ing is a tech­nol­ogy in search of a prob­lem, an expen­sive and risky dis­trac­tion from real solu­tions to address prob­lems of hunger, poverty and the impend­ing chal­lenges of cli­mate change.

Inten­sive crop pro­duc­tion (often based on mono­cul­tures and high pro­duc­tiv­ity)
depends greatly on exter­nal inputs such as min­eral fer­til­iz­ers and pes­ti­cides.
Sus­tain­able agri­cul­tural prac­tices, such as organic agri­cul­ture, strongly reduce the
reliance on exter­nal inputs by:
° recy­cling wastes as nutri­ent source,
° using nitrogen-​fixing plants,
° improv­ing crop­ping sys­tems and land­scapes,
° avoid­ing syn­thetic pes­ti­cides,
° inte­grat­ing crops and ani­mals into a sin­gle farm pro­duc­tion sec­tor and includ­ing grass
clover leys for fod­der pro­duc­tion, while avoid­ing pur­chase of feed concentrates.

Bohlen noted that leg­is­la­tion to ban or to label genet­i­cally engi­neered foods has been intro­duced in sev­eral states includ­ing Min­nesota, Cal­i­for­nia, Ver­mont and Maine, and just last week, the Boston City Coun­cil voted unan­i­mously in favor of a res­o­lu­tion to ban GM foods until they are labeled and sub­ject to safety testing.

The work­ing doc­u­ment pro­vides pro­pos­als for poli­cies and actions to erad­i­cate hunger and mal­nu­tri­tion.
It is based on the expe­ri­ences and polit­i­cal work of social move­ments, non gov­ern­men­tal organ­i­sa­tions
(NGOs) and oth­ers from all over the world dur­ing past decades and cur­rently. It is based largely on the
food sov­er­eignty frame­work that embraces the human right to ade­quate food.
These poli­cies and actions have been pre­pared to inform gov­ern­ments, insti­tu­tions and oth­ers, who are
com­mit­ted to erad­i­cat­ing hunger and mal­nu­tri­tion. They may also be help­ful in dis­cus­sions on these key
issues within and between gov­ern­ments, insti­tu­tions, social move­ments and NGOs. And they could be
used by social move­ments, organ­i­sa­tions and indi­vid­u­als in all regions as an input to their own pro­pos­als
at local, national, regional and global levels.
